Andre Vacha: I took a lot of bets during my education. Some payed off (recently a gap year of commercial filmmaking, startup consulting and teaching) and some didn’t (quiz me about my D-graded TOK essay rife with sarcastic characters, particularly one Mr. Analytical Andrew). Regardless, my conviction in embracing alternatives has brought me to Minerva Schools at KGI, perhaps another risky bet. But as finance has taught and guided me – risk is a function of danger, and opportunity. If the words ‘off the beaten track’ entice you, I’m your man.

I’ve always had a wide array of interests from sports to theatre to life science research, as well as a lot of fluctuations in my academic/career path, so I’ve got a lot of good advice for those who are in two minds or unsure about their future choices. I would love to help you out with any questions you might have, whether it’s academic-oriented or anything else that may be on your mind. Looking forward to getting to know you better!

Shreya Tibrewala: I graduated from TISB in 2018, and am currently a sophomore at Emory University. I still remember how stressful the application process for colleges was: not just for me but my entire batch. Writing, re-writing, editing and re-editing essays can be a complete pain, especially if one lacks the needed guidance, knowledge and foundation. I had initially set highly optimistic goals for myself, that only put unrealistic amounts of pressure on me. I now know so much better! If could go back, I would try to enjoy this process rather than dread it. Hopefully, I can help and support one of you reach your potential, and have fun while you work towards it!

Chinmaya Vempati: Hi everybody! I’m Chinmaya, a rising sophomore at UCLA who graduated from TISB in 2018. I was playing high school by ear, but thanks to that process and guidance from my friends and mentors, I figured out a number of things that can hopefully make your lives a little easier – and with Shaila’s platform I want to give back to where I came from. (A little about me – I’m into pretty much any creative pursuit, and I could probably talk your ear off about music.) Feel free to reach out!

For most part of my school and university journey so far, I’ve had elder siblings as my guide and I would be more than happy to help you navigate through the positives and negatives of your journey, especially if you choose to study in the UK. Shubhi Srivastava: Hi! I’m studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Warwick, and started at TISB in the 8th grade. I guess a couple of facts about me are that I’m either very relaxed or very stressed with no in between(or so I’m told), am currently oscillating between corporate finance and classic literature books, and love to talk A LOT, so would love to have discussions about literally anything you guys want to ask!

Shiv Ayappa: Hey guys! I’m Shiv, and I’m a rising sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, where I’m a biology major on the pre-med track. During my last few years at TISB I think I learnt a lot about how to balance the IB workload (which I really think is way overhyped) with commitments outside of class. In all honesty I don’t really think there’s a secret to the IB – it just comes down to time management and hard work. The college application process, on the other hand, was genuinely a confusing journey that taught me a lot along the way. I’d love to help you guys out with IB and the whole college app process. Plus if you have any questions about Penn or being pre-med, I’d especially love to answer those.

Priya Sanyal: Hi everyone! I’m currently in my third year at college, pursuing a major a English Literature with a minor in Creative Writing. You want to talk about a book that you read, a show that you love, a podcast you found brilliant (or hated, whatever works), I’m your person. You want to discuss current events, sure. Or of course, you need to invest in academics, cool. You want to get something off your chest? I’m there. Point is, if you have questions, opinions, things that you’d like to get out of your system – I’m a text away. I’ll listen, throw in a few dimes of my own if you really need that, and that’s it. IB’s not a cakewalk but with a decent schedule, highlighters, some caffeine, and once in a while, someone to vent to and to help you out, you can definitely get through it preferably with the grades you want. So, good luck and hope to see you on the other side!
