Hi, my name is Pranav Sriraman. I am a Biochemistry, Economics and Psychology triple major with minors in Chemistry and Health Sector Management. I am currently on the premed track and recently founded my startup- NutriEAT. At the U, I am a Consulting Analyst at TAMID Miami Chapter, a student-led consulting and finance club. Here are a few key points which I believe make The University of Miami the most underrated college of the country:

Perfect for the clueless Miami has 9 undergraduate school hosting over 250 majors and minors. In addition, as a part of the curriculum, students are required to take 3 courses in STEM, People and Society and Arts and Humanities each called a cognate. Once you declare your major/minors, certain cognates will automatically be filled up. Foote Fellows (honour students) are exempted from this requirement. This allows all students to chose from a multitude of classes and really explore what is out there for them. Personally, I applied for biology, fall semester 1 i was biomedical engineering, switched to exercise physiology and math, and then finally settled at economics, biochemistry and psychology. You’ll see students double major in marine biology and marketing, to political science and chinese. The freedom to chose classes that YOU want to study is quite rare at other Universities.

In addition, UM gets great funding annually for research. Majority of the faculty, undergraduate and medical school, welcome undergraduates to their lab- including freshman. With the diversity of labs offered as well, students interested in research are bound to find something they are passionate in and getting published is quick to follow! People, Diversity, Scholarships, Financial Aid UM is incredibly diverse hosting students from all over the world, from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Even though the social scene at Miami is heavy, majority of the students are dedicated to their schoolwork. Students at UM enjoy a good work:life ratio. Increases in recent funding has allowed UM to be generous with their scholarships and financial aid to students. Arriving on campus, I was shocked to know that majority of my dorm floor was on scholarship/financial aid. If you’re looking at graduate or professional school, save money! It’s MIAMI
