School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC)

SAIC:

Name: Devishi Seth
Year: Freshman
Major: Visual Arts (painting and sculpture)

Hi! My name is Devishi and I’m a freshman at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I am currently in the painting and sculpture department. The key thing about SAIC is that it is an interdisciplinary art school. That means you do not need to have a major. As an art student, you can be really confused as to what you want to do after college and SAIC really helps with that. You can take classes in any department but if you want you can have a more focused area. I have previously taken two introduction classes and have learned a lot. All the faculty members are full-time artists so it is a whole different experience because there is so much you can learn from their life experiences. Being a student at SAIC you have free access to one of the world’s biggest art museums. This really allows you to further understand and analyze art. SAIC doesn’t have a campus as it is situated in downtown but there are many clubs and events happening that make up for the closeness you feel in a campus college. The facilities offered at SAIC are amazing. They have as many art courses you can think of and there’s a lot of crazy things always happening.
